This bronzer totally deserves its cult-favorite status
Bronzing powder has been part of my daily makeup routine for as long as I can remember. I’ve tried too many to count, but I can say M.A.C’s Bronzing Powder in “Golden,” Charlotte Tilbury’s Filmstar Bronze & Glow and IT Cosmetics’ Confidence in Your Glow are the first favorites that come to mind. When I found myself in need of a new one, I also found myself in a conundrum because it was one of those rare instances when I had no idea what I wanted to get. Then I saw Chanel’s Soleil Tan de Chanel mentioned somewhere for the millionth time and off to the mall I went.
Decidedly different than practically every other bronzer I’ve ever used, this is a cream-based formula—but you apply it with a brush so I didn’t have to adjust my technique all that much. At first I was a bit intimidated, because I was worried it would be too dark. But as it turns out, it delivers quite possibly the most natural-looking sun-kissed color ever. The key is to use a fluffy foundation brush (synthetic fibers are your best bet), and swirling it gently over the product before ever-so-lightly buffing it into the cheeks, temples and sides of the forehead. (Oh, and don’t forget your neck.) There is zero sparkle or shimmer, and it leaves skin with a velvety finish. You can also use it with a smaller brush for more concentrated color or contouring.
I know I’m a bit late to game on this product, but better late than never, right? I’m so glad I finally know what all the buzz has been about—and I have definitely seen the light. If you’re starting to think about updating your makeup for spring, I would definitely add this to your list.
