I’m no stranger to Korean skincare (or the myriad steps involved), but K-cosmetics have never been a major draw for me, perhaps because of my penchant for sophisticated rather than whimsical makeup. But there’s a first time for everything, so I recently tried Too Cool for School’s Dinoplatz (eye) Shadow on Flatiron in “Bronze,” and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised.
Too Cool for School recent released the Dinoplatz range, and the packaging features illustrations of dinosaurs roaming around New York City. (Available exclusively at Sephora, the line also features typical Korean offerings like blushes with cushion applicators alongside some unexpected products such as Egg Mousse Body Oil and Egg Cream Sheet Masks.)
This shadow’s description was what first attracted my attention: “This water-resistant jelly shadow applies seamlessly to the eyes, sealing in moisture. The fine glitter shadow formula delivers long-lasting color that will not clump or crease.” I’m here to tell you that it does what it says, and it literally stayed where I put it for a good 10 hours, and it was easy to get off when I washed my face at the end of the day. I actually got my hair colored the first day I wore it, and my colorist’s assistant absolutely loved the color (which she got a bird’s eye view of when she was shampooing me).
I also played around with layering this gel-like shadow, and placing a lighter shimmer on top in the center of the lids added some dimension. While the Bronze color is great, I’d really like to try the Gold as well, because I think it would be a great long-lasting option for more casual days.
I have to say I learned a lesson here, and it would be, “Don’t knock it until you try it.” So now, what other Korean cosmetics do I HAVE to try?
