In my book, there’s nothing better than using my fingers to apply makeup, and that’s pretty much what I do every morning (except for bronzer). Cream shadows have become a mainstay in my brushless routine because they offer major color payoff and maximum staying power with minimal effort. A pot of cream shadow is great, but I like pencil formulas even better, which is why my collection of Jouer Crème Eyeshadow Crayons is growing.
We all need a nice, shimmery vanilla-like base color, and “Rococo” is about as good as it gets. Just a few swipes impart a wash of eye-brightening color, while a heavier-handed application offers a more opaque result. The problem with some cream eyeshadows is that they dry before you have time to blend with your fingers, but that’s not the case with these cool crayons. They let you ensure that there’s color exactly where you want it before the pigments set for all-day wear.
If you want a little more definition, simply add a darker color to your crease or lashlines. My favorites are “Baroque” (a shimmery bronze, above) and “Renaissance” (a bronzy plum, below). These shades also let you go as natural or dramatic as you’d like with utmost ease. Although they last and last, the crayons are so easy to toss in your bag for touch-ups on the go.
I like to think of these as a way to indulge my love of coloring, in a grown-up way of course…
