Everyone needs a basic moisturizer

I recently discovered a big, gaping hole in my skincare arsenal, despite a nearly-overflowing medicine cabinet. It was about 3pm on a Saturday, I had just taken a shower, and I wasn’t going anywhere for the rest of the day. Upon perusing my moisturizer options, I realized that I had moisturizers with SPF, a creamy SPF that I often use as moisturizer, and plenty of nighttime products. But what I really wanted was a plain-old moisturizer I could slather on without all of the other products I use in the morning.

Around the same time, I was placing a Thrive Market order (if you’re into clean eating, this online destination is where it’s at for gluten-free, Paleo, organic and other nutritional predilections) and I decided to scope out their skincare section (the site offers way more than food). Among the wide array of Earth Therapeutics, Alba Botanica and Yes to products (and so much more!) I stumbled upon Weleda—which has always been good to me. When the Wild Rose Smoothing Day Cream popped up (and at the unbelievable price of $15) I immediately added it to my cart.

With everything you want in a basic moisturizer (and nothing you don’t) I love this cream more and more every time I use it. The rose scent is fresh but not overpowering, the texture is light enough that it absorbs quickly yet it’s rich enough to leave my skin juicy, and it’s “green” so that’s a plus, too. The good-for-your skin ingredient list includes organic rosehip seed oil (which is full of antioxidants and fatty acids that help strengthen the skin’s barrier), peach kernel oil and sweet almond oil, which explain why it’s so great at hydrating your skin.

This product is proof that you don’t need a lot of bells and whistles (or chemicals) to take exceptional care of your skin… Do you agree?
