Festive makeup for the Fourth

I had mixed emotions when I learned July 4th fell on a Saturday this year… Although I work for myself and can take a day off whenever my workload allows, I couldn’t help but wonder if this weekend holiday meant it was going to be business as usual the Friday before and the Monday after. The answer finally came yesterday when I learned that a lot of my friends are off on Friday AND one of my biggest clients’ offices is closed on Monday—which means a quasi 4-day weekend… Woohoo! With all this extra time on my hands, I think some super-celebratory makeup is in order and I’ll be rocking some red, white and blue for fireworks with a little help from POP Beauty.

If you’ve never played with pigment powders, I highly suggest you get on that. This versatile cosmetic can be used myriad ways, depending on the color. A champagne-y neutral can be used as eyeshadow or mixed into a product like Elizabeth Arden’s Eight Hour Cream to create a highlighter. You can transform a bold hue into eyeliner. These concentrated powders also allow you to control just how bold you want to go by layering for more color pay-off, or lightly dusting for a wash of color and shimmer.

I’m not sure which way I’m going to go just yet, but I can’t wait to bust out POP Beauty’s “Metallic Blue” for the holiday. But if this hue is too bold for your liking, check out the other options… With 18 matte and metallic colors, there’s surely something for you, and for $10 a pop (I couldn’t help myself), there’s no reason not to experiment!
