Fragrances that come with a side of relationship advice
I’m very much a purist when it comes to selecting a perfume, and I base my decisions on my initial reaction when I first sniff a scent. If I can’t stop thinking about it (I usually give it a few days), it’s a winner—and very likely to become part of my collection. But sometimes I like to take a different approach, whether testing out mood-based scents or mixing and matching different fragrances that come in a kit. I recently came across another novel perfume concept called Lise London, and this collection serves up eight scents that are intended to be selected based on the person you (and your mate) aspire to be—and each one comes with a manual to help you achieve your goals. But alas, you can’t access the manual until you actually purchase the scent. There are four fragrance pairings, and if any of these traits resonate with you, perhaps they’re worth exploring further…
The Ideal Lover (for him) and Catleya (for her): For the poet in love and the sophisticated, sensual woman, his scent features bergamot, lavender and amber, while her notes include rose, iris and amber.
A Perfect Man and A Perfect Woman: The jovial gent gets a blend of citrus, floral and other lavender notes and spicy vanilla and woody amber, and the trend-setting woman gets green notes punctuated with orange blossom, tuberose, ylang-ylang, patchouli and woody benzoin.
A Perfect Gentleman and A Perfect Lady: The witty guy gets an intense leathery oud and the graceful lady surrounds herself with a heart of fleur de lys, citrus, vanilla, jasmine and ylang-ylang on a woody, musky base.
An Ideal Wife and An Ideal Husband: The woman who knows that just a bit of what her man likes is better than everything all at once, so she gets a sweet blend of jasmine, tuberose and fruity vanilla. This man introduces his wife to as his favorite pharmacist because she is the best medicine, and he gets a fresh citrus and frankincense.
I received a sample set that gave me the opportunity to try each scent, and my personal favorite was the Catleya. My husband, on the other hand, loved them all (apparently he’s a more well-rounded mate than I am). Unfortunately the sample set isn’t currently available for purchase, but I hear Lise London may be bringing it back. If they do, I’ll certainly let you know as it’s the ideal way to sniff each and every one of these sophisticated scents.
