Never underestimate the power of a little lipstick… Whether you lean toward a bold lip or you’re more of a nude girl, just a swipe of color is (sometimes) all you need makeup-wise before you head out the door. In honor of National Lipstick Day, I’m sharing my favorites, which are always in the rotation in one hue or another!
NARS
Lip Pencils
Available in matte, glossy and satin finishes, these chubby
pencils make application a breeze. My faves are the hot pink satin “Yu,” the matte
deep “Mysterious Red” and the matte fuchsia “413 BLKR.”
Charlotte Tilbury
I haven’t had a chance to try the new Hot Lips
lipsticks, my CT collection includes four shades that I go back to over and
over again. “Bitch Perfect” is the only nude that’s ever worked for me, and the
“Coachella Coral” is a great pop of color for day without going too bold. The
matte “Lost Cherry” is a nice, bright summery hue, and I also have the frosty
nude “Confession,” which was a limited-edition shade from a few seasons ago.
Tom Ford
It doesn’t get more luxe than a Tom Ford lipstick, and I
only wish my budget allowed me to stock up on more. My hands-down favorite is the
deep “Bruised Plum,” and it’s one of the main reasons I look forward to fall
and winter. “Casablanca” is my go-to for business meetings (and other times
when I want to keep things a bit more conservative) and I also love the sheer
shimmery “Rose Soleil” from last summer’s limited-edition collection. (Though
discontinued, you can get it on Amazon
for the inflated price of $69.44.)
And just a little tip… I wouldn’t even think about applying a matte lipstick or lip pencil without swiping on LipFusion’s XXL Advanced Contouring Priming Plumping Pencil. It delivers long-lasting hydration that prevents color from getting cakey and it eliminates the need for lip liner. Trust me.
These are just my favorites, and I have about 25 more that I just can’t part with. Perhaps I should celebrate National Lipstick Day by unearthing one of them from the archives. What’s your favorite lipstick?
