It pays to have friends in high places, and in this case I’m talking about the Tom Ford Beauty counter. I’m a regular there, and the fact that they know me comes in handy—especially in the form of invitations to events, sneak peeks at the new collections before they hit the store and lots of deluxe size samples. On my lost recent feel-good field trip, I scored a hefty portion of Illuminating Protective Primer SPF 12.
I’ll cut right to the chase… Despite the fact that this is currently sold out (and a whopping $72 a bottle) I have to say I wasn’t sold. It smelled a little weird, I didn’t see much of a radiance boost, and my makeup didn’t hold up any better.
Frankly, I’m a lot happier with the Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector (in Golden Opal Pearl), Smashbox Photo Finish and Pixi Beauty Flawless Beauty Primer I already have. And with these products ranging from $22 to $42, that leaves more room in my budget for Tom Ford lipstick (or the forthcoming fall colors).
So what do you think? Is an expensive primer worth it?
