A new lippie is the easiest way to give your look a lift, but when said lipstick actually feels fantastic, that’s the icing on the cake. I love a fresh, new hue (in fact, I did some spring scouting at Walgreens this week—post to come!), but even more important is that lip color wears well and comfortably. M.A.C’s new Huggable Lipcolour ticks all of these boxes, and we have a feeling that we won’t be able to stop at just one.
After reading another blog about this new offering, I bee-lined it to the mall. I instantly fell for entire spectrum of wearable colors (including nudes, which can be challenging). But it was the actual formula that got me to hand over my credit card. Richer than a balm but lighter than a true lipstick, you get a lot more than a mere wash of color without a heavy opaque finish. You also get shine without being too glossy, but the best part is the staying power. After a few hours, the color still looks freshly applied with no patchy spots or flaking. The secret is the emollient-packed gel base that helps it glide on effortlessly and keep lips hydrated for up to six hours. I went for the “Red Necessity” because it’s a happy medium between a true red and a hot pink—but making this decision was the one and only downside of this lipstick. Go get one (or two or three) while you can, because I have a feeling this one is going to fly off the shelves!
