Lip hydration and protection with a tint that adjusts to you

Lip balm is a mainstay for all of us, right? I have three or so Rosebud Salves stashed strategically around the house (and in my bag) so smooth, soft lips are literally within reach at all times—but beloved balm has been leaving me wanting more lately. I’ve been missing the ease of a stick, so when I was stocking up on Jouer’s Luminizing Moisture Tint I decided to give the new Lip Sheer SPF 15 a whirl.

The latest shade is called “Sheer Rosy Stain,” and according to the online description it’s a translucent lip stain that naturally adjusts to your own pH, creating a personalized flush of color. I had higher hopes for the color payoff than the actual formula itself, but I found the reverse to be true once this new lippie arrived.

Offering everything I love about balm with the convenience (and luxury) of a lipstick, this formula glides on and leaves lips hydrated and with a slight sheen. I’m especially happy about the SPF because it gives me one less thing to worry about. But the color on the other hand was a bit of a disappointment. I didn’t see any. No rosiness. No stain. And I kept checking to see if it was just slow to adjust to my personal pH. Nothing. Maybe my pH is totally balanced—at least something about me is!
