When it comes to beauty success stories, it doesn’t get better than the path Drs. Katie Rodan and Kathy Fields. In case you didn’t know, they created Proactiv (which is always my first recommendation when someone asks me what they should use to treat acne). Their sophomore collaboration was Rodan + Fields, and I actually worked with them when they launched this first-of-its-kind advanced skincare range at Nordstrom almost 15 years ago. (For the record: They are possibly the nicest ladies you’ll ever meet.) Fast forward to today, and Rodan + Fields is among the top-selling skincare brands ever thanks to its unique sales model.
After seeing more and more magazine articles and blog posts about needling, I was intrigued. Basically this noninvasive, virtually painless treatment involves a roller with little needles on it that makes teeny tiny holes in the skin. There’s no bleeding, but these tiny “injuries” not only stimulate your skin’s healing response (which produces more collagen), they also help skincare products penetrate deeper. It’s been about a week and I can say is HOLY COW. My skin looks better than it has in a long, long time—which actually made my 38th birthday a lot easier to deal with. Each night after I wash my face, I use the roller over my forehead and cheeks in 3 or so directions on each area. It doesn’t hurt at all, but it makes me sneeze. Every time—which is somewhat funny.
