My bestie came to visit from New York a few weeks ago, andin addition to bringing her sparkling personality, she brought me a big-old bag of makeup. (It pays to have beauty publicist friends.) Her bag was literally overflowing with Revlon and Almay, and while I haven’t even had a chance to play with everything yet, these lovelies are already in heavy rotation—and it’s not even spring yet.
The winter of 2014/2015 was all about finding the perfect berry-colored lipstick—at least until a few weeks ago when the Ultra HD Lipstick in “Iris” entered my life. Just out last month, lipstick doesn’t get more high-tech than this. Featuring a super-light, wax-free, clear gel base for even, vibrant color in just one swipe (and a yummy vanilla-mango scent/taste), the only downside is choosing from 20 shades.
Since some girls are more into gloss, Revlon also offers the Ultra HD formula with a wand. In addition to the lightweight feel and high-def colors, you also get mirror-like shine in 15 shades.
Revlon Colorstay Moisture Stain
The name of this gloss-stain hybrid got me excited from the get-go. Colorstay: Who doesn’t like a gloss that’s not gone in 5 minutes? Moisture: Who couldn’t use a little extra hydration? Stain: I equate stain with a weightless formula without a hint of stickiness—and that is indeed the case here. As someone who’s not afraid of a hot pink, the “Rio Rush” is so my speed. This product delivers MAJOR color (more opaque than sheer), high shine, and soft lips for hours. Get this. Now.
Almay Smart Shade Butter Kiss Lipstick
If you get confused by cool, warm and color descriptions like that, the new Smart Shade lipsticks are for you. The line is divided by skin tpne (light, light/medium and medium), and then serves up a berry, pink, nude and red for each. Genius! (I’m obsessed with Light Red.) The hydrating formula is lighter than a traditional lipstick but definitely packs more pigment than a tinted balm, making it the perfect middle ground for day or night.
