Frankly, some mornings I’m lucky to get out of the house wearing two of the same shoes. Between packing lunch for school, responding to emails from abroad, getting my son to brush his teeth and get dressed, I don’t have time for an elaborate makeup routine. (Hello, tinted moisturizer, bronzer, cream shadow applied with my finger, mascara and the first lippie I find in my bag.) So that’s why highlighter has never been part of my repertoire—until now.
The Celestial Powder in “Candlelight” by Kevyn Aucoin Beauty is one of those cult products that will never go away. And thank G-d for that. I treated myself to a little research mission at Space NK in my local Bloomingdale’s a few weeks ago, and it was the first chance I had to play with the Kevyn Aucoin since the last time I was in New York City. Naturally I had to see what all the hubbub was about, and let me just say all the hype is true.
This powder is so finely milled it literally melds with your skin rather than sitting on the surface. And the luster it provides mimics candlelight, and we all know we look better when illuminated by a small flame. I say luster because it isn’t glittery, it isn’t shimmery, it just makes you look lit from within. And it only takes a few seconds.
The key to achieving this amazing glow is the application. You should use a fan brush, because it picks up the perfect amount of powder. Sweep the brush across the powder twice, then lightly dust your cheeks, forehead and the center of your chin. Voila… You look radiant. Seriously, go get this now.
