The secret to your smoothest soles ever

I have a bit of an obsession with having super-soft feet. Not that anyone other than my pedicurist is touching them on a regular basis, but something about a lack of roughness and calluses makes me happy. Maybe it’s because my Nana had the worst cracked heels ever—and my mom has the smoothest, softest feet on the planet. I’ve tried everything from scrubs, chemical peels, pumice stones, Baby Foot (numerous times), you name it. Then at my last pedicure, Maria busted out this tool, and I actually asked if it was a food grater. Alas, no, it was the Microplane Colossal Pedicure Rasp—and I ordered one as soon as I got home.

With just a little elbow grease, this sole-smoother literally grates off every last bit of hard skin in minutes. Yes, you have to be careful not to overdo it, because if you do, you could be left with soreness or redness. And if you wear heels a lot, definitely take it easy because the balls of your feet can use a bit of extra padding. My advice, when you start to see pink—stop. I used the Microplane about three weeks ago and my feet are still in great shape, despite padding around the house barefoot (which is a surefire way to get calluses in the first place). I can’t wait to hear what Maria has to say when I go for another pedicure tomorrow!
