Treat your tresses to a little luxury

We’re all about a high-low mix, not only when it comes to fashion but when it comes to beauty products as well. You’ll find a generic CVS face wash sitting next to our SkinCeuticals C E Ferulic (and tees from Target hanging alongside Jimmy Choo boots). We’re firm believers that you don’t always have to spend a bundle to get products that works (although there are a few exceptions), but sometimes the feel-good factor associated with something fancy goes a long way.

We definitely splurge on hair styling and treatment products, but we’re not so picky when it comes to shampoo and conditioner. (Full disclosure: We have a closet full of salon-quality shampoos and conditioners, so we won’t have to actually purchase anything for a long, long time.) Yes, we try to steer clear of sulfates, but these days you can find better-for-your-hair offerings at the drugstore, so we see no real reason to part with your hard-earned cash. But (isn’t there always a but?), we’re really crushing on Kanebo’s Sensai Moisturizing Shampoo, Balancing Conditioner and Intensive Hair Mask.

In case you’re not familiar with Kanebo or Sensai, this Japanese brand is all about high-tech skincare, and they apply their forward-thinking philosophy to haircare as well. They’re also all about traditional Oriental herbal extracts and delectable scents. So if you’re looking to splurge and show your locks some extra love, these products are a wonderful place to start!
