“Mall” and “facial” aren’t usually two words I use in the
same sentence, but after yesterday, I’m changing my tune. I was invited to
Nordstrom’s Fall Beauty Trend event in Town Center and part of my afternoon of
beauty was an Elemis facial—in the store. I had assumed it would be one of
those “mini-facial” treatments smack dab in the middle of the beauty
department, but boy was I wrong. You’d never know it, but there’s a secluded
treatment room with all the bells and whistles you’ve come to expect from a
spa.
It must have been my lucky day because I was in the hands of Elizabeth Socha-Straff, who happens to be Elemis’ national trainer. Yep, I got a facial from the woman who teaches other people how to do facials. And this was no “mini-facial” treatment—we spent about an hour-and-a-half together and I have the smooth, soft glowing skin to prove it.
As with most facials, it started with cleansing and toning, followed by not one, but two masks, plus serums, lotions and other potions in between. Within five minutes I was more relaxed than I’ve been in months and Elizabeth gets all the credit for that. In addition to the amazing care she took of my skin, she has mad massage skills—which I experienced on my face, around my eyes and on my arms and hands (with the amazing Frangipani Monoi Oil, which has been one of my Elemis favorites for years).
A facial should be tailored for your skin at a particular point in time, which is why the first question Elizabeth asked me was, “If you’d like to see instant results for just one thing today, what would it be?” I told her my skin was feeling congested and I was concerned about my pores, and here’s the complete list of products she used on me…
Pro-Collagen Cleansing Balm
Balancing Lavender Toner
Tri-Enzyme Resurfacing Facial Wash
Rehydrating Ginseng Toner
Papaya Enzyme Peel
Soothing Apricot Toner
Herbal Lavender Repair Mask
Cellular Recovery Skin Bliss Capsules
S.O.S. Emergency Cream
Pro-Radiance Illuminating Eye Balm
Pro-Collagen Marine Cream
Liquid Layer SPF 30
