What did we do before BB and CC creams? Our complexion coverage options were certainly less plentiful, and basically limited to tinted moisturizer and foundation. I love alphabet creams creams because they offer skincare and cosmetic benefits in one formulation, and these essentials are migrating upwards and taking the place of multiple products you’re probably already using on your hair.
A few years ago, Alterna had a limited-edition product called Summer HaiRx After-Sun Hair Quench. Essentially a gel mask that provided both nourishment and hold, I stockpiled 5 of them and recently ran out. This has been my go-to product after getting my roots done, since I’m petrified of blow-drying my platinum locks immediately after my color appointment. This summer, the brand released another limited-edition called Bamboo Beach BB Beach Balm for Hair, and I had a sneaking suspicion that it could be close to my beloved yet discontinued gel. Upon trying it, I discovered it isn’t a clear gel like the old one, but more of a lotiony balm—but it’s a pretty good stand-in (for now).
While I was at Sephora (and on an alphabet kick), I figured I’d try the Caviar CC Cream for Hair 10-in-1 Complete Correction Extra Hold. Offering moisture, smoothing, shine, softness, UV filters, breakage prevention, manageability, strengthening, heat protection AND hold (so I can slick my hair back and keep it in place), I’m really glad I have this for summer so I can always wash and go (and keep further hair damage to a minimum).
Between the two of these products, my hairdryer is officially off-duty for the summer, and I couldn’t be happier!
