It was a sad, sad day when I learned that Shu Uemura was pulling the plug on its brick-and-mortar retail back in 2010. Knowing that the makeup and skincare products were still available online was a bit of a consolation, and fortunately I was able to get an in-person fix when I was in London a few years ago. After finishing my last bottle of Blanc:Chroma Cleansing Oil about a year ago, I decided to take a break and show a few other brands some love, but the SU withdrawal kicked in so I promptly got it back in the rotation, this time with the Anti/Oxi Skin Refining version.
Packed with antioxidant green tea extract, this cleansing oil fights the damaging effects of free radicals generated by environmental exposure as it melts away every last bit of makeup, dirt and grime. I use it as the first step of my double-cleanse, and after trying many, many cleansing oils, I can’t help go back to this over and over again. But before you say that $77 is a little steep for a cleansing oil, trust me when I tell you this one bottle can last up to a year! (Yes, it comes in a smaller size, but the big one is a much better deal.)
While I was shopping, I couldn’t resist adding the Mint Depsea Water Facial Mist to my cart. I promptly tried it as soon as my order arrived, and I am head over heels for this herbal-based mist. The mint makes it super-refreshing—and perfect for a skin pick-me-up throughout the day.
I received a pleasant surprise a few days after I placed an order… I wasn’t expecting an email from Shu Uemura reminding me how to use the cleansing oil—what a nice touch! I have to say this got me even more excited for my new goodies and had me tracking my package like mad.
