Even though I tend to gravitate toward expensive skincare and makeup, I still love a good bargain. I can’t even count how many times I’ve checked out the e.l.f. offerings at Target, but to date I’ve only purchased a spooly brush for my brows (actually two since they were only $1 each). This past weekend I found myself in Target once again (shocker), and this time the Lengthening and Defining Mascara caught my attention. Ringing in at just one buck, there was absolutely no need to ponder the purchase and into my cart it went.
The first thing that caught my attention was the super-skinny tube. Then upon opening it, I was a bit taken aback by the short, almost chubby brush since it’s quite different from all of the others I have stashed in my makeup drawer. The shorter brush required more swipes to coat all of my lashes, and although I started to get nervous that all those passes were going to lead to crazy clumping, alas I was wrong. Once I was finished, I was left with longer lashes plus extra volume that indeed make my lashes look more defined. When I looked in the mirror at the end of the day, a little undereye cleanup was necessary, but I feel like that’s usually the case with just about any mascara.
I see myself using this on days I’m working from home or running errands so I can save the expensive stuff for times when I’m putting a bit more effort into my makeup. But truth be told, it looks pretty damn good whether I’m wearing other makeup or not. And the best part… You probably have enough change hiding between your couch cushions to get it.
